A Song About Guilt, Letting Go, and Burying the Past
“Grave” is a moody, aggressive alt-rock track with explosive drums, dark guitar textures, and a haunting lyrical confession. Written in the emotional aftermath of a relationship’s collapse, the song captures the moment where there’s no point in holding on — only in facing the truth and finally laying it to rest.
“With Grave, I wanted to own my mistakes — not romanticize them,” says Shaun of DayEyez. “It’s not a breakup anthem. It’s a funeral for everything I broke.”
The track’s cinematic chorus — “So I let you down one more time / I never had much of a spine” — hits with raw honesty. Built around distorted vocal layers and echoing guitar motifs, Grave becomes both an ending and a warning. It’s the emotional turning point that sets the tone for DayEyez’s upcoming album, Mid Love Crisis (out October 25, 2025).
🧠 About DayEyez
DayEyez is a boundary-pushing alternative rock/pop project based in Nelson, New Zealand. Blending anthemic alt-rock, emotionally raw lyricism, and AI-powered production, the project explores love, identity, and the quiet collapse of connection. With each release — from Insecurities to Mine — DayEyez has pushed deeper into emotionally charged, genre-fluid territory. “Grave” marks the final single before the full album Mid Love Crisis drops on Friday, October 24, 2025.
